IT’S A BRAT GIRL SUMMER!!!! The entire album deserves a round of applause from how it seamlessly blends the modernity of the 2020s with nostalgic undertones of pop from the early 2000s. My favorite songs are ‘Von dutch’ (duh), ‘365,’ and ‘Everything is romantic.’
Lost at Sea – ANNA Remix by Rob Grant, Lana del Rey, and ANNA
If the words ethereal, longing, and solstitial were challenged to make a song, this would be the byproduct. Lana always pulls me back in during the summertime, which could be attributed to summertime sadness, but I digress.
To commemorate any big trip I take, I’ve started selecting a ‘song of the travels’ that can take me back to all of the great times that were had when played. In my rulebook, a song can only qualify if it doesn’t have very many significant memories tied to it, or it has to be a song I recently found before embarking on the journey.
This was the song of our most recent trip to Sweden for me.
When we visited back when I was 14, I remember listening to Ultraviolence with my chorded headphones while looking out at the Swedish countryside in the station wagon we rented for our family of five.
Although so much has changed since then, I guess my taste in music hasn’t all that much, which is comforting in a way.
Clouds by BUNT. and Nate Traveller
This song embodies the spontaneous and vibrant essence of summer and without fail makes me want to run a marathon whenever I hear it.
She’s A Rainbow by the Rolling Stones
And last but not least, a Stones song to close us out, because what’s summer without some classic rock.
