A practice crucial to my well-being as a newfound adult is having one day dedicated to tying up loose ends and getting as much R&R as I can each weekend (which typically falls on a Sunday for me). It can be so easy to get overwhelmed with life during the week amidst juggling all of the obligations we have to our jobs, maintaining relationships, running errands, etc. Dedicating a chunk of time to smooth things over has proved necessary in allowing me to both catch my breath and set the week ahead with success since there’s an element of intentionality behind what’s to be accomplished. Today, my weekend reset looked like waking up late, washing my sheets, getting a birthday gift together for one of my friends, and *finally* Gorilla Gluing some fixtures onto the accent mirror in my kitchen. Other weeks it has looked like ‘rotting’ in bed literally all day reading a book, baking cookies, journaling, learning new vocab words – essentially doing whatever will bring me peace in the future. The point is to give yourself free rein to do whatever you’ve been putting off due to busyness so you can move forward hopefully feeling lighter and more in control of your reality.
